Great Hercules Cluster - M13
This magnificant globular cluster can be found in the constellation of Hercules. It consists of around 400,000 stars and is 140 light-years across and 23,400 light years from us.
This image shows the full field of view of the camera with M13 in the centre and the galaxy ngc6207 can be seen lower left of the frame.
The picture below is a crop of the middle section of the above image to see more detail in the globular cluster.
This image taken in the early hours of 9 June 2011 with a Canon 40D camera at prime focus of a Vixen FL102S telescope and consists of 15 x 5 minute subs combined in Deep Sky Stacker and processed in photoshop CS2.

On this occasion the telescope was guided using PHD and it is interesting to see the comparison with the same object imaged by me in 2007 unguided. That image can be seen by clicking HERE.
