The image consists of 13 x 2 minute subs, taken with a Canon 40D DSLR through a William Optics Megrez 90 telescope, stacked in Deep Sky Stacker and processed in Photoshop.
Towards the end of October 2007, Comet 17P/Holmes surprised sky watchers around the world with a sudden million-fold increase in brightness. It literally exploded into view, rapidly becoming a naked eye "star" in the constellation Perseus.

Technical details
Taken through a VC200L telescope at prime focus (f=1800mm, D=200mm) using a Canon 20Da camera. 24 separate images each of 20s and iso 3200 stacked in ImagesPlus and processed in Photoshop.
